#20 Kansas State at #12 Missouri
#12 Missouri (15-3) lost a heart-breaker in overtime 91-89 to #13 Texas A&M, dropping their record in the Big 12 to 1-2. They’ll get another stiff test on Monday evening as they host the #20 Kansas State Wildcats (13-5).
Missouri had won ten games in a row but has struggled since Big 12 conference play has started. Averaging 85 points per game, Mizzou has one of the most dynamic offenses in the nation with five players averaging in double digits. Junior guard Marcus Denmon leads the team in scoring with 17.7 points per game while four other players average between 11.9 and 10.6 points per game. Now, if they could only play defense.
On the scoring strength of All-American guard Jacob Pullen, Kansas State has managed to hang around the Top Twenty, but now face a stiff challenge with three of their next four games versus ranked opponents. Pullen, the team’s senior leader and its heart and soul, averages 17.9 points per game and is complemented by sophomore guard Rodney McGruder’s 12.2 points per game.
Kansas State is a solid defensive and rebounding team and will be a challenge for the offensive firepower of Mizzou. The game could come down to whose star performs the best.
