16 September 2011
Even with the Georgia Bulldogs struggling out of the gate the SEC has already registered wins in 18 of 21 games
outside of the conference and should once again serve as the gateway to the BCS National title game. No. 25 Mississippi State suffered its first blow of the sports betting season with a close loss against the defending national champion Auburn Tigers on the road last weekend, and will look to get back on track and avoid consecutive losses when they return home to face the No. 3 LSU Tigers Thursday.

College Football Betting Lines: LSU Tigers – 3.5
LSU has opened the year with consecutive wins over non-SEC opponents in impressive fashion, including taking down the defending PAC-12 champion and BCS National title game finalist Oregon Ducks at home in their opener. The Tigers’ schedule doesn’t get any easier the next couple of weeks with consecutive road dates at top-25 teams, but they have the tall
College Football Betting Preview: LSU Tigers
The Tigers have managed to open the season with a couple of notable wins even without their starting quarterback and one of their top receivers, as Jordan Jefferson and Russell Shepard both remain out. The loss of two of their top players has been an afterthought so far with senior Jarrett Lee doing a fine job under center, and sophomore Michael Ford has rushed for 168 yards and four touchdowns combined through two wins. The stingy LSU run defense held the Demons to minus-4 yards rushing a week ago, and will need another big performance against a Mississippi State offense that ranks sixth in the FBS so far this online casino season.
College Football Betting Preview: Mississippi State Bulldogs
The biggest reason for that incredible start on offense has been senior running back Vick Ballard, who ran for a career-high 166 yards in the Bulldogs’ opener and leads the team with 301 yards and four touchdowns. Senior quarterback Chris Reif already has 40 carries and must be accounted for both on the ground and through the air, but might have to be more efficient behind a banged up offensive line. LSU stopped Mississippi State three times inside the three-yard line in the final minutes of a 30-26 Tigers’ win a sportsbook promo year ago, and once again it will be on the Bulldogs to prove they are strong enough to overcome.
College Football Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
LSU has won 11 straight contests between these teams, and with Ford and fellow running back Spencer Ware looking so explosive the Bulldogs will have their bass fishing work cut out for them once again if they want to end that streak. Mississippi State offensive strengths match the strengths of the LSU defense, and if they fail to run the ball this one could get ugly in a hurry.
College Football Betting Pick: LSU Tigers – 3.5
