NCAA College Football Week Twelve Predictions: Texas A&M vs. Texas

Week twelve of the NCAA college football season features a Thanksgiving night rivalry game between #17 Texas A&M (8-3) versus Texas (5-6) in a Big 12 match-up. Vegas has placed the Aggies as -3 1/2 point favorites on the road.
Usually, when these two teams meet, a berth in a BCS Bowl is at stake, but, with Texas having a down year, this match-up lacks the typical sizzle. Still, with any rivalry game, emotions will run high inside Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Texas A&M has climbed the polls on the strength of a 5-game winning streak with victories over perennial powers Oklahoma and Nebraska. The Aggies have played an impressive schedule, facing four ranked opponents, with a record of 2-2. A&M has used both Jerrod Johnson and Ryan Tannehill at quarterback this season and the two have combined for 24 TDs and 12 INTs. Cyrus Gray is the leading rusher with 810 yards and 10 TDs while Jeff Fuller is the leading receiver with 11 TD receptions and 959 yards receiving on an offense that averages 32.5 points per game. Defensively, the Aggies have held opponents to 20.6 points per game, including just 6 points against Nebraska last week.
Texas, on the other hand, has really struggled in this rebuilding season, losing four of their last five games, with a win against Florida Atlantic as their only victory since October 16. While the defense has held its own, the offense has been their main problem as they have failed to score more than 22 points in all of their five conference losses. Garrett Gilbert has really struggled at quarterback in his first year as a starter, through just 9 TD passes against 15 INTs. The run game hasn’t offered much support other, leaving the Longhorns without much punch.
While this is a rivalry game, the Aggies hold the advantage and should cover the Vegas spread on the road.
