Boxing features a long awaited Vegas odds matchup on September 16, 2017, the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada will host the Middleweight World Championship Boxing matchup between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Gennady “GGG” Golovkin. “I know this is the biggest day for us or not for us, for boxing. This is a huge, history making fight.” said Golovkin and most agree.
The current Las Vegas odds for this matchup lists Gennady “GGG” Golovkin as the -145 favorite versus Alvarez as the +115 underdog.
Golovkin is a 35 year old Kazakhstani Professional Boxer, with a 37-0 record including 33 knockouts, who holds world titles by 3 of 4 major box sanctioning bodies. The WBA, IBF, and WBC titles and two of them are up for grabs should Alvarez win the bout, the WBC title would become vacant. Golovkin is 5’ 10” tall with a 70” reach. Triple G has never hit the mat or been knocked out in 387 fights both as a professional and amateur boxer.
Alvarez is 27 years old from Mexico with a 49-1-1 records including 34 knockouts. He has two loses in his career to Floyd Mayweather and Jorge Juarez. “Canelo” is 5’ 9” tall with a 70 ½” reach. Alvarez has the patience and skills but not great power. If the match goes the distance then Alvarez has a better chance of winning the scorecards. This is the first time Golovkin will fight in the state of Nevada and it will be on Mexican Independence Day. Look for Golovkin’s accurate jabs and power punches as he takes hits so he can maneuver his way in closer to deliver the power attack. Alvarez has been a pro boxer since age 15 and fought 21 times before his 18 birthday. Alvarez has speed behind his punches. Golovkin is not hard to hit and struggles with speedy opposition.
