Pittsburgh (27-4, 15-3): The Panthers have been the most consistent team in the Big East all season, and they’re a physical team that grinds their opponents down. They can also score with the likes of Ashton Gibbs, Brad Wanamaker and Gilbert Brown, along with Nasir Robinson and Gary McGhee, but the Panthers make their money on defense, which they play with a toughness that even UFC betting players would be proud of.
Notre Dame (25-5, 14-4): The Fighting Irish are a team that shoots the three-pointer extremely well, and they also defend actively. Ben Hansbrough is a fiery leader just like older brother Tyler was for North Carolina, and the Fighting Irish feed off his energy. But if you can contain them on the perimeter, you have a great chance to beat Notre Dame.
Syracuse (25-6, 12-6): Everyone began to count the Orangemen out, and then they won their last five games heading into the Big East tournament. Syracuse’s biggest weapon is their 2-3 zone which, when it works, can stop any team in the country. The Orangemen have long and athletic wing players like Kris Joseph, which makes Syracuse extremely tough to score on.
Louisville (23-8, 12-6): The Cardinals’ uptempo pace may not work in the tournament, but that’s the only way they know how to play. Louisville pushes you at both ends of the floor to make up for their lack of size, but they would move up to the upper echelon of the Big East if they got more out of forward Terrence Jennings.
St. John’s (20-10, 12-6): No one had the Red Storm in their pay per head sportsbook at the beginning of the season, but St. John’s has knocked off a number of teams at home in Madison Square Garden, where the Big East tournament will be played. Dwight Hardy leads an experienced group of seniors who want to end their career on a high note, and they’ve been one of the best teams in the conference over the second half.
March Madness Odds Even West Virginia, Georgetown and Connecticut have a chance to win what should be the most entertaining tournament in the country, and it’s going to be a tough road for whoever comes out unscathed. But we’re taking St. John’s to ride the momentum they’ve had all season in the Garden, and they’ll have plenty of support from their fans. Even though they haven’t been this good in a while, having so many seniors on the team really helps their chances. Go with St. John’s in your sports betting odds.
