NCAA Schedule Week 3: Iowa vs Arizona College Football Odds: Unless you live on the west coast or in the middle of Iowa, you’ll likely miss one of the best college football odds match-ups of the week in the NCAA college football schedule for week 3 as the #9 University of Iowa vs. #24 Arizona University. Vegas odds have placed Arizona as a slim -1(-110) college football odds favorite at home. Last years colege football odds contest, Iowa won this match-up 27-17 in Iowa City but the stage moves to Tucson in 2010.
Iowa (2-0) has started the college football picks season hot, winning at home by an average score of 36-7, but their trip to Tucson will be the team’s first road experience and in a hostile environment no less. Iowa has always fielded a tough defense, and with starters returning sack leader Adrian Clayborn, the defense is once again the team’s strength.
The Hawkeyes offense is led by quarterback Ricky Stanzi (sr.). In college footballpicks victories against Eastern Illinois and rival Iowa State, Stanzi has passed for over 400 yards and three touchdowns in a limited body of work. Iowa also features a dominant running game led by sophomore back Adam Robinson, who lit-up Iowa State last week for 156 yards and a TD. So far this college football odds season, he has four rushing touchdowns. Robinson did well against the Wildcats last season rushing for over 100 yards and 2 scores. He’s joined by fellow sophomore Jewel Hamilton in the backfield, who managed over 80 yards against Iowa State.
Arizona (2-0) has dominated opponents so far outscoring Toledo and the Citadel by a combined score of 93-8. Nick Foles, a junior quarterback, runs the offense and he has matured into a dangerous and efficient quarterback. Senior running back Nic Grigsby has scored five TDs so far but he may have a tough time finding traction against a stingy Iowa run defense that allowed opponents an average of 3.5 yards per rush in 2009.
To win this college football odds match-up, Arizona will need to throw the ball and, for that, they’ll need their #1 receiver, junior Juron Criner ready to play. Criner was injured against the Citadel but is expected to play. He can stretch the field and has averaged nearly 20 yards per catch thus far in the 2010 college football picks season.
Despite the gaudy offensive numbers posted by both teams, this game likely will be low scoring. If Iowa marches out of Tucson with a victory, they have an excellent of running the table until a November meeting with Ohio State so this is a big college football odds contest for the Hawkeyes who hope to buck the Vegas odds.
