During week eight of the NCAA college football season, ranked teams in the Big Ten conference will see plenty of action.
#7 Michigan State (7-0) travels to the surprising Northwestern Wildcats (5-1). Vegas has placed MSU as -5 1/2 point favorites on the road. MSU features a tough defense and an underrated offense led by quarterback Kirk Cousins and running back Edwin Baker.
Stung by their loss at Wisconsin, #10 Ohio State (6-1) hosts Purdue (4-2) and you better believe Terrell Pryor will be primed for a big day. Purdue, though, plays OSU tough and, while Vegas has OSU as -23 1/2 point favorites, this could be a better game than expected.
In the Big ten game of the week, #13 Wisconsin (6-1) travels to #15 Iowa (5-1). Vegas odds have Iowa favored by -6 points as the home team. Wisconsin features a punishing ground game led by John Clay who has gained 796 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns. He is complemented by James White who has 560 yards rushing and 9 touchdowns. Quarterback Scott Tolzein keeps teams honest in the passing game. Quarterback Ricky Stanzi and running back Adam Robinson make Iowa’s offense go. The two players have combined for 21 touchdowns. Both teams give-up less than 20 points per game, while both Iowa and Wisconsin average more than 34 points a game scored.
This should be a tight, one-score game and, after a big win against OSU, the Badgers may let down on the road. Look for Iowa to win but Wisconsin to beat the Vegas spread.
Michigan State should cover against dangerous Northwestern but look for OSU to let down against Purdue and keep the Boilmakers in the game long enough to cover the spread.
