Kentucky Derby 2013 Post Positions, Entries & Horse Racing Schedule

kentucky-derby-hats-ladiesThe Kentucky Derby 2013 post positions have been set and this will no doubt be another exciting year for the run for the roses. Leading up to the the post positions being set we had a few horses that were expected to be Kentucky Derby contenders and have not made the list, notably Bob Baffert's GOVENOR CHARLIE has been opted out of the 2013 Kentucky Derby and is expected to run in the Preakness. Also, TITLETOWN FIVE was expected to make the Derby and is also not among the 20 post positions.

In post position 1 trainer K. Breen has BLACK ONYX the three year old has only five starts, of which he finished first three times, his worst outing came on 1/1/2013 at 1 1/16 where he finished fourth. BLACK ONYNX current Kentucky Derby 2013 odds are listed at 40/1.

Post position 2 goes to a D. Wayne Lukas trained colt, OXBOW was sired by Awesome Again and finished fifth in the Arkansas Derby. OXBOW has nine career starts making him a veteran of the Kentucky Derby contenders with betting odds listed at 25/1.

Post position 3 is listed with REVOLUTIONARY in the gate, we previously did a review on this T. Pletcher trained colt and expect REVOLUTIONARY to fair well in the race on Saturday. His current Kentucky Derby odds are listed at 8/1

 Post time for the 2013 Kentucky Derby is scheduled for 6:24 p.m. ET Saturday, May 4th. The Derby and preps will be televised from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. ET, on NBC Sports Network and for the running of the 139th Kentucky Derby: 4-7 p.m. ET, NBC.
