There is nothing like the windfall when you make a winning Kentucky Derby prediction that includes a longshot. The higher the odds of any given Kentucky Derby entry that crosses the line in your superfecta, trifecta or exotic wager only increases your payout. I can remember when the trifecta paid serious money because MINE THAT BIRD finished in the top three at 50-1 and paid $20,750.30 for a $1 Trifecta wager.
Based on the current Kentucky Derby odds, bettors have a solid chance to cash in once again with a longshot. In the 2009 Kentucky Derby, when the 50-1 longshot took the win their were 5 horses with the same odds, in 2014 there is only one horse with 51-1 odds and that is Todd Pletcher's VINCEREMOS.
Pletcher has four entries in the 2014 Kentucky Derby and two are basic longshots with odds over 30-1, Pletcher has a long history of having several entries in the Derby and hasn't had much luck. His first win came in 2010 with SUPER SAVER which was Pletcher's twenty fourth entry into the Kentucky Derby. But with hopes of hitting a Kentucky Derby longshot prediction you have to wonder when Pletcher will clean house and have at least two entries in the top three.
Could this be the year that Pletcher's entries take the top three positions? I'll make a trifecta prediction that if it hits will provide a windfall of five figures or more.
