2010 MLB Playoff Picks: New York Yankees ready to repeat? The New York Yankees are Vegas odds makers MLB picks favorites’ at -140 to win game one on the road in their MLB Predictions five game playoff series against the Minnesota Twins. Work horse starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia has a clear cut advantage over Twins SP Francisco Liriano who has been getting knocked around as of late. Seven of the eight playoff teams have their starting rotations set for at least the first three games of their series. The Yankee’s do not. With A. J. Burnett’s’ recent struggles and the questionable status of Andy Pettitte, it seems like the logical choice to start game two would be right hander Phil Hughes. At the moment the Yankee’s are “undecided”. Burnett was penciled in to start game four of the series on Sunday, but has been recently removed from the starting rotation.
The Yankee’s lost the N.L. East and home field advantage on the last day of the season. They now face The American Leagues’ hottest September team. Despite their pitching woes the Yankee’s are still Las Vegas favorites to represent the American League in the 2010 World Series at +170 and 7/2 to win it all. New York will have to rely heavily on their bats and the leadership of Derek Jeter if they plan to repeat as World Champions. SS Alex Rodriquez finally provided some post season punch last year, and will be asked to get it done again.
This Las Vegas bettor thinks the Yankee’s don’t have enough pitching to make it to the World Series. This creates wagering opportunities on the other three MLB Predictions A.L. playoff teams. TTampa Bay is +200, Minnesota is +400, and Texas is +450 to make it to the World Series. But be wary, I won’t bet against C.C. Sabathia if the New York Yankee’s make it to game five. A seven game series in round two is an entirely different animal.
