A tale of two series… In the NLCS, the San Francisco Giants are tied with the Philadelphia Phillies at one game apiece. The modus operandi for the 2010 MLB Predictions Playoffs have centered on classic pitching duels. Game 3 follows the trend. The Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher, Cole Hamels (12-11) faces the San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain (13-11). Hamels threw a nine inning shutout in the Phillies’ 1-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds in the NLDS. Cain only gave up one unearned run in 6 2/3 innings in his last start against the Atlanta Braves.
The Phillies are Las Vegas odds favorites at -114 to win game 3 of the NLCS at AT&T Park Tuesday in San Francisco. This may appear to be an evenly close MLB Predictions matchup, but Hamels’ ability to pitch into the late innings of the game combined with Philadelphia’s’ explosive bats, makes Philadelphia a lock to win game 3. The Las Vegas run line has Philadelphia at – 1 ½, +145 this is a good opportunity to give up the 1 ½ points and walk away with $145.00.
Despite Manager Joe Girardi’s decision to stick with A.J. Burnett as the Yankee’s starter in tonight’s MLB Predictions matchup, the Yankee’s are Las Vegas’ favorites at -145 to win and tie the ALCS at two games apiece. The Ranger’s counter by starting right hander Tommy Hunter who has a very respectable 2010 with 13 wins and four losses. A.J. Burnett is taking 16.5 million dollars to the bank this year, compared to Hunter’s .409 million.
Vegas has the over/under set at 9 ½ runs. The Yankee’s are way over due to break out on a run scoring spree, and the Ranger’s 6 run ninth inning barrage in Monday’s Game 2 proves they are ready, willing and able to match the Yankee’s hit for hit. Unless Burnett or Hunter can come up with career performances this MLB Predictions game should be a high-scoring affair.
Another pitching duel in the NLCS and possibly a home run derby in the ALCS, and there are no NFL games and only a DWTS results show to stand in our way.
