January 6th was Round 1 of 17 of the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross. The Angel Stadium in Anaheim CA was the host to the 450SX event in which Marvin Musquin started his Supercross racing season with a win and 26 points for the number one spot. Musquin riding his KTM450-SXF Factory Edition was 8th in qualiifers. He started in the 5th position, led 14 laps and never looked back.
Jason Anderson raced his way to a 2nd place Supercross odds makers position and carries with him 23 points. Anderson did not race well enough to ever lead a lap. His Husqvarna FC450 looks really good this year. In third place was Justin Barcia from Greenville Florida racing his Yamaha YZ450F. Justin was on top during 3 lead laps and holds his position with 21 points.
Race 2 was January 13th at NRG Stadium in Houston, TX. This was the 50th time the gates dropped in the 450SX Class race. Justin Barcia has won at this stadium before as a fill-in rider. Eli Tomac with the injured shoulder finished 40th in qualifying and did not race. Marvin Musquin finished in 3rd but he went down hard and injured his left shoulder. Musquin did not race. Justin Barcia did as we thought he came out hard in the 1st lap and then lost it to Ken Roczen. Into the mix came Jason Anderson and Weston Peick. When the checked flag came out the rider in front was Jason Anderson.
The Supercross 450 series points lead is now led by Jason Anderson with 49 points. Musquin goes from 1st to 10th. Second goes to Ken Roczen with 42 and he is sharing that same number of points with Justin Barcia. The riders will travel back to Angel Stadium in Anaheim California where the fans hope to see both Tomac and Musquin back on thier bikes.
