The 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season is about to begin and this season is full of excitement. There is a revised point system which is said to ensure the competition will be more competitive during the season. The new points evenly distribute points to all 22 finishing positions. The Supercross season will also bring us three Triple Crown Monster Energy Cup-style events, two 250 SX East/West Showdowns and four Supercross Amateur events. The Triple Crown is a three-city showdown that will start on January 20th in Anaheim, then to Atlanta on March 3rd and lastly Minneapolis on April 14th. The Crown is for both 250SX and 450SX classes to compete in. The East/West Showdowns will be held in Indianapolis and Las Vegas where 20 of the fastest riders from both the East and West Coasts will compete. Finally, the Amateur racing events will give amatuer athletes in 29 classes their only chance to compete in the same venue on the same weekend as all of the Supercross stars.
The 2018 Supercross Season has also eliminated the semi races in qualifying. The athletes will have just two chances to win a spot in the Main Event, one of two heat races or last chance qualifier. The top nine racers in each heat will qualify into the Main Event and positions 10-20 will go to the last chance qualifier. The heat racers and LCQ will be longer and therefore more excitement for the fans.
If you can make it to the live event you can watch all of the races live on the Fox Family of networks from the United States and Canada. Fans outside of the US and Canada can subscribe to Supercross Video Pass.
