The 2018 Nascar betting season kicked off at Daytona last weekend. This weekend the Nascar Cup Series will be in Atlanta Motor Speedway. The Cup Series will be joined by the Nascar Xfinity Series (2pm; 2/24) and the Nascar Camping World Truck Series (4:30pm; 2/24) for a triple header.
The Daytona 500 winner, Austin Dillon, passed race leader Aric Almirola in the third corner of the final lap of overtime, after tapping Almirola's bumper during a block by the driver. Dillon who was driving the number 3 car stated, "This is so awesome to take the No. 3 car back to Victory Lane. This one is for Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and all those Sr. fans." Earnhardt Sr. loss his live on Febraury 18, 2001 in a final lap collision of the Daytona 500 when he crashed into the retaining wall after contact with two other drivers.
There are 36 cars entered to race in Atlanta which is currently the smallest number in history. The new charter system cuts the field down and weans out what is known as field fillers (slower riders). Reigning Series Champion, Martin Truex, Jr is racing in Atlanta on a track that he says will be a good indication of how his Nascar betting season will turn out. The Vegas odds makers driver's standings have Ryan Blaney in the lead with 58 points followed by Joey Lagano with 50 and Daytona 500 winner, Austin Dillon, with 47. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Folds of Honor Quik Trip 500 will waive the starting flag at 2:00 pm ET on Febraury 25th.
