NFL Picks & Predictions: Jacksonville is looking for improvement in 2010 NFL Schedule - The Jacksonville Jaguars will need to improve for the 2010 NFL picks season. After being in contention for an AFC Wild Card NFL Predictions spot during most the season in 2009, the young Jaguars faded down the stretch finishing at 7-9. NFL Vegas Odds makers have listed Jacksonville Jaguars +1000 to win 2011 Super Bowl.
The Jaguars defense really struggled in 2009, finishing in the bottom tier in both rushing and passing defense. Big plays were missing all over the field as the team amassed only 14 sacks and 15 interceptions. Daryl Smith led the team in tackles at weakside linebacker, and they added linebacker Kirk Morrison and defensive end Aaron Kampman in free agency. Rookie Tyson Alualu, their #1 draft pick, should also contribute. In the secondary, safety Reggie Nelson and cornerback Rashean Mathis need to improve their games if the Jags have any hope of improving their porous defense.
On the other side of the ball, Maurice Jones-Drew took over full-time duty at halfback and excelled, piling-up nearly 1,800 yards in all-purpose yardage with 16 touchdowns. While Jones-Drew is productive and dependable, the key to the offense is quarterback David Garrard. Garrard was statistically okay with over 3,500 yards passing and 15 touchdowns. This NFL Predictions year is a make or break year for Garrard and the Jags will need to decide if he is their team leader or if they will go in a different direction. Mike Sims-Walker had a breakout year in 2009 and must prove he can repeat his performance under the pressure of high expectations and increased coverage.
The Jags have been given 40-1 Las Vegas odds of winning the AFC, making them one of the longest of the long shots to represent their conference in the Super Bowl Odds, and without significant improvement from the defense and quarterback, they could be looking at a top ten pick in the 2011 NFL Picks draft.
Jacksonville Jaguars currently have 18-1 Vegas NFL Odds to win the AFC South.
