Week 8 Vegas Odds - Chargers vs. Titans NFL Picks & NFL Predictions: Is their bigger disappointment both in the the NFL picks win-loss column and against the Vegas spread than the San Diego Chargers this NFL predictions season? The Chargers (2-5) are 2-5 against the Vegas spread as well and have lost three NFL predictions contests in a row, all as the NFL picks favorite. In week eight of the NFL betting season, San Diego hosts the hot Tennessee Titans (5-2), who have won three NFL picks battles in a row and are undefeated on the road. Yet, the Vegas odds makers continue to give way too much respect to the Chargers who are once again -4½(-110) point NFL predictions favorites.
Statistically, the Titans do not bull you over, but they play a complete, team game. The team ranks near the bottom of the league in passing and pass defense (bad news against Philip Rivers and the Chargers’ passing offense), but have scored 30 or more points in three straight NFL picks contests. Last week, against the Philadelphia Eagles, they scored 27 points in the fourth quarter on two Kerry Collins to Kenny Britt touchdowns passes, two Rob Bironas field goals, and a defensive touchdown to blow open a close game. Whether Collins or injured Vince Young will start at quarterback is up in the air at press time and, if healthy, Young would certainly go. There is no question on the Chris Johnson’s status. The running back has 662 yards and 7 touchdowns and could have a big game on Sunday. Britt has exploded onto the scene with 434 yards and 7 touchdowns and the Chargers will need to pay attention to him.
After seven NFL predictions match-ups, the Chargers are reeling and, unlike the Titans, they thrive statistically but cannot win ball NFL picks contests. San Diego owns the #1 passing defense, the #1 passing offense, and the #4 rushing defense. Rivers has thrown for over 2,300 yards and 13 touchdowns, but he has been sacked 20 times and has committed seven turnovers. Five different receivers have more than 250 yards passing while the running game has been stagnant somewhat. Defensively, the Chargers have 25 sacks and have been able to get turnovers. Looking for a hidden stat? How about three returns for touchdowns?
This is finally the week that the Chargers get out of their slump, right? The smart money stops buying into the San Diego shell game and NFL picks the Titans to cover the Vegas spread and win today's NFL picks contest on the road. With the Chargers, though, nothing is a sure thing.
