At 3-6, the Minnesota Vikings have reason to mail-in the rest of their 2010 season, but not this week as their arch-rival Green Bay Packers (6-3) in a NFC North division match-up in week eleven of the NFL season. The Vikings would like nothing better than to knock-off the division leaders but Vegas has listed the Packers as -3 point favorites on the road. Green Bay and Minnesota have played fairly evenly over the years and the Packers won the first meeting 28-24 in their first meeting.
This has been a season to forget for the Vikings as injuries and poor play by Brett Favre, who has just 10 touchdowns and 16 INTs. Favre has been hampered by many injuries but is planning on playing this week. Adrian Peterson, with 908 yards 7 TDs, has been a bright spot in an otherwise dreary season, and plays well against the Packers. The defense has played well statistically, but the team has given-up too many big plays and too many points.
Green Bay had a sputtering start but has now won three straight, including a dominating 45-7 victory over the Dallas Cowboys two weeks ago. Aaron Rodgers has passed for over 2,300 yards and 15 TDs, and could be poised for another big day. Greg Jennings, James Jones, and Donald Driver have all made big plays, and Brandon Jackson has provided a spark for the running game. Clay Matthews Jr. has 10.5 sacks, and will be looking to put Favre on the ground, while Green Bay’s ball-hawking secondary will be looking to add to Favre’s interception total.
Green Bay has been on a roll, and Favre has been nothing but a disappointment. Look for the Packers to cover the spread and win the game on the road.
