Two teams whose games were decided on dramatic last plays face each other in week eleven of the NFL season as the Cleveland Browns (3-6) versus the Jacksonville Jaguars (5-4). Vegas has predicted another close game with the Jaguars as -2 point favorites at home.
Wide receiver Santonio Holmes broke the Browns’ hearts in overtime as he scored on a 37-yard touchdown pass to beat the Browns. The loss was their first after defeating the Saints and Patriots, but the Browns have been vastly improved. Peyton Hillis has been the heart and soul of the Cleveland offense, running for 726 yards and 8 TDs. Though Colt McCoy has only thrown for two touchdowns but has directed two of the team’s three victories. Defensively, the Browns have improved in the past few weeks but are still vulnerable to big plays, like the one that beat them last week.
The Jaguars meanwhile won on the last play of the game, a Hail Mary pass from David Garrard to Mike Thomas on a 50-yard touchdown pass. Garrard finished the game with 342 yards passing and 2 TDs, but still are ranked near the bottom of the league in passing. The Jags, though, are in the top ten in rushing and Maurice Jones-Drew has gained 745 yards and 3 TDs. The Jacksonville defense has given-up 19 TD passes against just 8 INTs, and has not been much better against the run, allowing 12 rushing touchdowns.
The Browns should have some success against the Jaguars, especially with Hillis, but so should Jacksonville. The over/under in this game is 43 1/2 and go with the over. Both teams have won and lost their share of games and look for Jacksonville to cover the spread at home and win at home.
