The Detroit Lions haven’t won a game on Thanksgiving Day since 2003; they beat the Green Bay Packer’s 22-14. The Lions have lost the last six holiday matchups by an average of 23.1 points per contest. I don’t expect anything different this year. On Thursday, November 25th, Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and the rest of the New England Patriots will visit Ford Field to Play the Lions.
Since the departure of WR Randy Moss the New England (8-2) offense has begun to click. Brady has returned to top form and is using all available weapons. If Detroit (2-8) had a better running game, or if Matthew Stafford was in the lineup, I would give Detroit more of a chance, not this year, maybe next.
Las Vegas has New England as 7 point favorites to win Thursday’s NFL Predictions matchup. Of Detroit’s eight losses in 2010 four of them have been by five points or less. Taking the Lions and 7 points seems rather enticing, but the Patriot’s are on a roll; they’re tied for first place in the AFC East with the New York Jets and can’t afford a letdown in week 12. New England almost blew a lead in week 11’s 31-28 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. But Shaun Hill isn’t Peyton Manning, and the Lions aren’t the Colts.
New England Patriot’s at the Detroit Lions is the first of three NFL Predictions matchups on Thanksgiving Day. The action starts at 12:30 PM ET. The first game of my pick three, I’m going with New England and giving Detroit the three points.
