On Thanksgiving, the New Orleans Saints (7-3) pay a friendly visit to the Dallas Cowboys (3-7) during week twelve of the NFL schedule. Vegas has posted the Saints as -3 1/2 point favorites in Dallas.
The Cowboys have won two straight under new head coach Jason Garrett and seem to be an invigorated bunch. Quarterback Jon Kitna was effective for the second consecutive week, completing 18 of 24 passes and 3 TD passes in a 35-19 victory over the Detroit Lions. Dallas was impressive in the red zone, scoring on all three attempts, and scored on a 97-yard punt return. The Cowboys still ranked in the bottom half of the league on defense and that could be a problem against the Saints, a team on a roll offensively.
The Saints pounded the Seattle Seahawks 34-19 with Drew Brees throwing for 382 yards and 4 TD passes, two each to Marques Colston and Robert Meachem. New Orleans has won three games in a row and four of five, scoring 34 points in consecutive weeks. The Saints feature the second best passing attack in the NFL and the third best passing defense. Brees and Colston are getting into a rhythm and, between that tandem, and the other weapons Brees can utilize on offense, the Saints should have plenty of success moving the ball on the Cowboys.
Though the Cowboys have shown signs of life, the Saints, and especially Brees, are in a zone right now and will be a tough opponent. Look for New Orleans to cover the spread and put this game away before you have had a chance to eat your second helping of pumpkin pie.
