What do you when one of your young running backs asks the opposing quarterback who just beat your team for his autograph? If you are the Dallas Cowboys (4-9) head coach Jason Garrett and that running back’s name is Tashard Choice who asked Philadelphia Eagles Michael Vick for an autograph, you defend him publicly and get ready to play one of your top rivals at home.
Choice had Vick autograph a glove to give to his nephew and the act made all the highlight shows and engendered a debate on the 3rd-year running back’s competitive spirit. Garrett defended his player’s competitive nature and now is getting ready to play the Washington Redskins (5-8).
Playing only a limited role for most of the year, Choice gained 100 yards against the Colts two weeks ago but only 16 yards against the Eagles. Choice will probably get limited touches this week as Felix Jones, who has gained 572 yards, will see the bulk of the carries. Dallas has been playing well as of late, winning three of five games, and scoring a lot of points in an exciting brand of football.
The Redskins have gone on a losing skein, having lost five of six, and cut punter Hunter Smith, a few days after his botched hold on an extra point cost Washington a chance to tie the game late. The Redskins have not scored more than 20 points since a 59-28 loss to the Eagles as quarterback Donovan McNabb has failed to provide the spark the team needed.
This game still has meaning to both organizations as each tries to gain traction late in the season. Washington won 13-7 during the season opener but Dallas is favored by -6 in this game.
