As a child, you believed anything was possible – Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, and some day the Cleveland Browns really would win a Super Bowl. Well, you were a dreamer and so are the NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks (7-9) who waltz into a home game against the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints (11-5) as a double-digit under dog – at home!
Can the Seahawks win? Here’s how they have a chance
Get a Lead
For years, Seattle fans have prided themselves with being the 12th man with a noise level that would rival a Boeing 747. The Seahawks need to get a lead to help their fans do their thing. If they can find a way to get up, say, 10-0, who knows?
Return on Investment
The Seahawks had five touchdowns off returns, three KO returns by Leon Washington, and two returns off interceptions for the defense. It stands to figure that New Orleans will kick away from Washington but the Seahawks will have to gamble on defense and go for the pick-6 against Drew Brees. Brees had two pick-6s to the same guy in their loss to the Browns so anything is possible, right?
Play Ball Control
The Seahawks did well running the ball and sustaining drives against the St. Louis Rams in their 16-6 win to earn a visit by the Saints. New Orleans has been vulnerable against the run and, if the Hawks can muster some long drives led by Marshawn Lynch, they have a chance. Yet, the Seahawks must score touchdowns on these drives and, it says here, at least four touchdowns to have a chance at an upset.
