Is there any other team happier to be traveling across the country to play an away game in a hostile environment than the New Orleans Saints? Of course not! The Saints (11-5) are saying all the right things this week but, honestly, do the defending Super Bowl champs really think they are going to lose to the NFC West champion Seattle Seahawks, who, at 7-9, are the only team in NFL history to make the playoffs with a losing record? The Seahawks, really?
No, this is not a snarky statement. The Saints can’t take the Hawks lying down – they need to get into the game right away and not allow themselves to get over-confident.
Play Good Defense
In all five of their losses, the Saints allowed 20 or more points and three times allowed 30 or more points. Can the Seahawks, with Charlie Whitehurst or Matt Hasselbeck put up 30 on the Saints? Anything is possible in the NFL but not likely. The Saints have allowed just 13 touchdown passes but they have been vulnerable against the run. Fortunately, for them, the Seahawks can’t run it very well either.
Let Brees be Brees
With 4,620 yards and 33 TDs, Drew Brees had a really good season. Give Brees enough time to find his receivers and the game will be done by half-time.
