The first Monday Night Football NFL picks contest is in the books and both the Ravens and Chargers came out on top. The Ravens played hosts to the Cincinnati Bengals and it was the Ravens offense that was the spotlight in the Monday Night Football season opener.
Joe Flacco led the Ravens to a 13-44 victory, putting up 229 yards in the air and debuted their no-huddle offense which was way to much for the Bengals to handle. A controversial touchdown by the Ravens at in the second quarter was the focus of the game up to that point, replays showed the reception by Anquan Boldin was incomplete but officials ruled the catch good giving the Ravensa total score of 17. The Ravens tied an franchise record for the 3rd highest total score achieved by the Ravens.
The Ravens head to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in their week 2 NFL picks contest.
The Chargers took a short trip to Oakland to face the Raiders in their week 1 NFL picks contest, San Diego came out on top with a mistake filled 22-14 victory. Although the Chargers earned the win, it was the Raiders defense who earned the statistical performance win, it was San Diego's ability to capitalize on mistakes that earn the victory in points. The Raiders set an NFL last year with 163 penalties and are off to a start this season to repeat that performance.
The Chargers will now begin preparing for a week 2 NFL picks contest versus the Tennesse Titans.
