Vegas Spreads for week 2 features a Thursday Night Football picks matchup at Paul Brown Stadium, where the Bengals who were scoreless in week 1, will host the 0-1 Houston Texans, who scored only 7 points in their week 1 NFL picks contest against the Jaguars. Thursday Night Football kicksoff at 8:25 p.m.
“I’m very excited that it’s a short week, so that we can get out there on Thursday and try to prove ourselves.” said J.J. Watt Texans defensive end.
Head coach Bill O’Brien has not picked his starting quarterback for Week 2, but NFL Network Insider Ian Rappaport reports it will be rookie Deshaun Watson. Watson played the second half replacing the starter after Tom Watson took six sacks two of which were returned for touchdowns. Watson did slightly better with a TD and nothing else to speak of. The injuries sustained to the offensive line include 4 concussions. TEs CJ Fiedorowicz, Ryan Griffin, Stephen Anderson and WR Bruce Ellington. All four are not likely to play against the Bengals. The Texans still have DeAndre Hopkins who added 55 yards and scored the lonely touchdown in week 1, WR Jaelen Strong who should be available after serving a suspension in week 1 and OL Greg Mancz who started at center 16 times last season.
Marvin Lewis’ Bengals are 3-3 vs Rookie Quarterbacks in their debuts. If the Texans pick Watson, according to statistics, a win is in his favor. Bengals QB Andy Dalton coming off a loss with 4 Interceptions and 5 sacks and 170 total passing yards needs to receive pass protection from his offensive line. An offensive line that had 5,711 total offensive yards in the 2016 regular season from the likes of WRs A.J. Green and Brandon LaFell, TE Tyler Eifert and RB Jeremy Hill.
NFL odds makers opened the Cincinnati Bengals as the -4.5 (-105) point spreads favorite, but since have adjusted the Vegas line to -6½(-115) and have set the game total for this week 2 NFL picks contest to 38( ov-110). In addition, 64% of NFL bettors are taking the Bengals straight-up.
