We’ve seen the costumes and the candy in the stores for a couple of weeks now; the pumpkins will be arriving soon. Halloween is coming. Sports fans may have to pay the babysitter or nanny overtime that day. Sunday, October 31st, yes its Halloween, but not an ordinary one. That Sunday is also week eight in the NFL. On the same day we are going to be blessed with a World Series game and a healthy dose of NBA action. The NHL season will also be under way, but they may have been “spooked” by the television and ratings competition as there are no NHL games scheduled for that day.
NFL’s week eight feature three potential 2011 Super Bowl matchups; Green Bay Packers vs. New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings vs. New England Patriots, and Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New Orleans Saints. If that isn’t enough to get excited about, there are four NBA Regular Season Games being played on Halloween. Of the eight teams playing that day, five were in the playoffs in 2010 that includes the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat. Both teams are Las Vegas favorites to square off in the 2011 NBA Predictions Championship.
One more thing… On the same Sunday a year earlier, Alex Rodriquez of the New York Yankees, hit a game winning double that led the Yankee’s to a MLB Predictions win in Game four of the 2009 World Series over the Philadelphia Phillies. Can you say Déjà vu?
Can the Dolphins and the Heat win on the same day? Perhaps a New York daily double, the Yankees and the Jets both victorious on October 31st. I almost forgot, there is a NASCAR race the same day at Talladega, the 7th race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Trade in your Snickers Bars for a bowl of guacamole. Wearing the jersey of your favorite team will do just fine for a Halloween costume on October 31st, 2010.
