NHL: Detroit at St. Louis

The St. Louis Blues (22-17-6) started the season as one of the top teams, starting the year with a 12-5-3 record, but have been treading, and below that even, with a 10-12-3 record. Special teams, penalty killing and power play efficiency, has led to the decline as has overall goal scoring. The Blues rank in the bottom half of the National Hockey League in all three categories. In the Central Division, they have also fallen 12 points behind the division leaders and have actually fallen behind the top 8 in the west. The Blues will have a chance at home, though, to bridge the gap in the Central as they take-on the Detroit Red Wings (28-12-6).
Detroit has remained atop the division and the western conference despite a slew of injuries. Missing time, include stars just as Pavel Datsyuk, Tomas Holmstrom, and goalies Chris Osgood and Jimmy Howard. After missing a 4-1 loss in Pittsburgh, Howard will be back in net and that should provide the Red Wings with a big lift.
St. Louis goalie Jarsolav Halak will have to be at the top of his game as he faces a Detroit team that has scored 158 goals, tops in the west.
Detroit owns one of the best road records in the league and is 2-1 against the Blues this season.
