MMA Results Silva Drops Emilianenko, Advances In Heavyweight Grand Prix - The Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix continued last week at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and there were at least a couple of surprises on the online sports betting main card for the event. The quarterfinals continued with Fedor Emilianenko taking on Antonio Silva and Andrei Arlovski clashing with Sergei Kharitonov.

MMA Results - Antonio Silva Defeats Fedor Emilianenko

TKO (Doctor Stoppage) Round 2

Emlianenko's fall from grace continued with his second loss in a row, as Silva needed just two rounds to force the doctors to end the fight. The Russian superstar had won 31 of his first 32 fights, but has now dropped consecutive decisions to Silva and Fabricio Werdum, and at 34 years old this could be a sign that his career is beginning to wind down. As for Silva, the 31-year old continues to build an impressive resume with wins over Andrei Arlovski, Mike Kyle, and Fedor Emilianenko. Silva has won 16 of 18 career pay per head fights and now advances to the next round.

Sergei Kharitonov Defeats Andrei Arlovski

KO Round 1

Like Emilianenko, Arlovski's loss gives credit to those who felt that this Strikeforce tournament was comprised of fighters that were past their prime and no longer able to compete with the best in the business. The Pitbull lasted just 2:49 in to the first round before he was knocked out by Kharitonov, and has now lost four straight fights dating back to 2009. The 30-year old has now won consecutive fights, and five of his last six, of course advancing to the next MMA betting round.

Shane Del Rosario Defeats Lavar Johnson

Submission Round 1

On a night where four of the five fights were ended in the first round, fans were constantly teased and this bout may have been the hardest to handle. Del Rosario used an armbar to submit Johnson and improve to 11-0, and has now taken down 10 of the 11 opponents he has faced in the opening round. Of his 11 wins, eight were clinched via knockout while another three by submission. The loss was Johnson's first in seven fights.

Chad Griggs Defeats Gianpiero Villante

TKO Round 1

Similar to the opening fight of the night, the winner didn't need long to get the job done as Griggs knocked out Villante in just 2:49. The 32-year old extended his win streak to five, and has now clinched nine of his 10 victories via knockout. The punching power hasn't gone unnoticed by the promotion or Villante, who has now lost two of his last three fights after six straight wins to open his career.

Valentijn Overeem Defeats Ray Sefo

Submission Round 1

In the opening matchup of the night, Overeem wasted little time breaking down Sefo. The Amsterdam-native needed just 1:37 to submit Sefo via a neck crank, clinching his third straight win overall. The fight was just the third professional MMA bout of Sefo's career, and ended a string of consecutive pay per head wins. Check back for the latest UFC Odds for upcoming events.
